Monthly fact: Central Plains Mennonite Conference is a vibrant area conference of Mennonite Church USA made up of 46 diverse congregations spanning 7 states (Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) and more than 1,000 miles from corner to corner.

Monthly fact: “We are committed to providing a meal to everyone who is hungry, regardless of ability to pay. We do this through our community meal program and our meals are being served out of St Paul United Methodist Church. Community meal hours are 1:30 - 3 pm On Tuesday's and Thursday's. Our guests are able to order any entree from our menu, along with a side item and a drink. Each meals costs $5, so we hope that you will consider donating to help us continue this mission.”

NEXT WEEK we will collect our October birthday/anniversary offering and read 1 Samuel 3:1-21.

 

TRUNK OR TREAT – Can you decorate your "trunk" and help us serve our neighbors?  Let your imagination run wild!  We would like to have at least 15 groups with their "trunk" all decorated and handing out candy.  Wednesday, October 27th  6-7pm.  Setup starts at 5:30 pm.  Signup in the Fellowship Hall. Contact the Outreach Commission with questions (Tammy, Kristopher, and Wanda).

 

CANDY DRIVE - We are collecting candy to give out during our Trunk or Treat event on October 27th. In the past, we have had 100-150 kids. If you can’t come and hand out candy on October 27th, please donate to our candy drive.

 

PUPPETS - We are hoping to reopen our puppet theater for Advent this year... please talk to Stan if you'd be willing to participate in various capacities.

 

CAN YOU COUNT? – We need an Attendance Counter each week.  Please contact Kathy B if you can help out!

 

SHARING FUND - We have a sharing fund to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission: Steve, Becky, and/or Ron.

 

NEEDED – Greeters or Drivers, please talk to Steve.  Youth Sunday School Teachers, talk to Sara.  Food Takeout Containers or a Fridge, talk to the FoodNet Committee.

 

MDS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) calls for volunteers with a heart for service and an attitude of flexibility. Volunteers are needed in Paradise, California; Jennings, Louisiana; McAllen, Texas as well as other work sites organized by local Units. MDS is seeking volunteers who, while eager to get back out there, must be ready to roll with both safety precautions and schedule changes as COVID-19 cases fluctuate. Contact MDS to learn more.

 

TECH – Our 13 year old tech deck could use some upgrades, especially to make projection and Zoom easier and more efficient to run. Donations have been coming in.  If you'd like to contribute to this project financially, please put a check in the offering, memo line "Tech."  

 

CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for your sister churches in Nebraska: Beemer, Bellwood, Bethesda, First Mennonite of Lincoln, Milford, Salem in Shickley, Wood River, and the Omaha Chin Christian Church, and pray also for the informal gathering of Mennonites in Omaha.
