When we, like the disciples, are feeling stuck or frustrated- if we can take time to listen- we can hear Jesus inviting us to try a new perspective that will bring hope, nourishment, and abundant life.

Quarterly Mission Offering

Foster Care Closet - fostercarecloset.org

Monthy fact: “At any time, day or night, when a child is removed from their home, we provide a meal, space to rest or play, and 5 new outfits that they can pick out and bring with them to their new foster home.  Our goal is for our processes to ensure and maximize a child’s dignity.”  Foster Care Closet is currently raising funds to make sure they can purchase clothing for the rest of the year.

Birthday/Anniversary Offering

Lulu’s on N - www.lulusonn.com

Monthly fact: “We feel a strong connection to our neighbors in Lincoln and are humbled by the success of the Community Meal Program.”  In addition to their meal program, LuLu's on N offers additional assistance, including filling prescriptions, getting a bus pass, working with Lincoln Housing Authority, and more.

TODAY we welcome Sheri's friend Jen Shenk, pastor at Kern Road Mennonite in South Bend, to share our message. We will read John 21:1-14.

NEXT WEEK we will read our theme verse and celebrate communion.  Joyce and Lavina have offered to make the bread.  If you don't plan to be at the building on the 2nd, please pick up your cup (in the fellowship hall) and bread (in the freezer) in advance... it'll be there already this weekend.

MOWING SCHEDULE - Wade and Caleb are working on the 2021 mowing schedule... please contact them if you'd like to be added to the rotation. More info to follow.

Now that in-church services have resumed, Nurture Committee is looking for drivers for one or several of our attendees to and from church on Sunday mornings. April and May have already been covered. We are looking to cover the rest of the year. If you would be willing/able to cover a month or at least be a substitute, please contact Steve Nitzsche.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be Saturday, July 10th, from 9AM-12PM at First Mennonite Church.  Preschool through 5th grade children are invited to attend this fun event.  Please RSVP with the child's name and current grade to Jeana Rose by May 9th.

FOODNET - The Outreach Committee has been working toward FMC becoming a distribution site for FoodNet. We are planning to start very small on Thursday evenings in May. Talk to Dallas if you'd like to volunteer. If you would like to learn more about FoodNet,  http://foodnetlincoln.org/  please visit a site near you.

MCC HYGIENE KITS -  There is still time to bring items for our MCC Hygiene Kits.  Please bring the contents to church by Sunday, April 25, and let’s see how many bags we can fill! Contents (NEW items only):

•             1 adult-size toothbrush (in manufacturer’s packaging)

•             1 large bar bath soap (leave in wrapper)

•             1 nail clipper (good quality)

•             1 hand towel (medium weight, dark or bright colors; approx. 16 in x 26 in)

•             1 wide-toothed comb (6–8 in)

Can you donate the contents to fill a bag? Can you sponsor 6 bags?

We have a sharing fund to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission: Steve, Julie, and/or Ron.

We are taking a break from shop hours, but will continue to have less regular opportunities to gather virtually and in-person in coming weeks.

Please continue to be extra intentional in connecting. Physical distance is not equal to social isolation. Let's love our neighbors around the area and world.

CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for the work of the Outreach and Service Committee of Central Plains Mennonite Conference. We ask for wisdom and courage as they lead by example and encouragement into new ways of thinking about and doing God's just work in our ever-changing world.
