Quarterly Mission Offering

Foster Care Closet - fostercarecloset.org

Monthy fact:  “At any time, day or night, when a child is removed from their home, we provide a meal, space to rest or play, and 5 new outfits that they can pick out and bring with them to their new foster home.  Our goal is for our processes to ensure and maximize a child’s dignity.”  Foster Care Closet is currently raising funds to make sure they can purchase clothing for the rest of the year.

Birthday/Anniversary Offering

Lulu’s on N - www.lulusonn.com

Monthly fact: “We feel a strong connection to our neighbors in Lincoln and are humbled by the success of the Community Meal Program.”  In addition to their meal program, LuLu's on N offers additional assistance, including filling prescriptions, getting a bus pass, working with Lincoln Housing Authority, and more.

NEXT WEEK Sheri's friend Jen Shenk, pastor at Kern Road Mennonite in South Bend, will have our message. We will read John 21:1-14.

DRYWALL WORK - Patch Pros finished patching drywall cracks in the walls and ceiling of fellowship hall and sanctuary... We will have several opportunities in the coming weeks to paint the walls.

MOWING SCHEDULE - Wade and Caleb are working on the 2021 mowing schedule... please contact them if you'd like to be added to the rotation. More info to follow.

COMMUNION - We will celebrate communion on May 2. If you'd be willing to make dinner rolls or buns to share a couple days before the service, please let me know (otherwise we'll probably use the little wafers on top of the communion cups, which will be available at the building).

FOODNET - The Outreach Committee has been working toward FMC becoming a distribution site for FoodNet. Stay after the service today to learn more and find out how you can help out.

DONATION CHALLENGE - We have a sharing fund to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission: Steve, Julie, and/or Ron.

SHOP HOURS - We are taking a break from shop hours, but will continue to have less regular opportunities to gather virtually and in-person in coming weeks.

MCC HYGIENE KITS -  Please bring the contents to church by Sunday, April 18, and let’s see how many bags we can fill! Here is the challenge: Each kit is donated in a school-kit bag. We just happen to have 125 of those bags in the closet. Do you think we can gather enough contents to fill all 125 of those bags? On a typical (pre-pandemic) Sunday morning, we generally had about 100 people in the pews. Our sanctuary holds 225 people. What if we “filled” each of the 125 extra seats with kit bags? Just picture a full sanctuary of filled kit bags to be donated. Contents (NEW items only):

•             1 adult-size toothbrush (in manufacturer’s packaging)

•             1 large bar bath soap (leave in wrapper)

•             1 nail clipper (good quality)

•             1 hand towel (medium weight, dark or bright colors; approx. 16 in x 26 in)

•             1 wide-toothed comb (6–8 in)

Can you donate the contents to fill a bag? Can you sponsor a ”full pew” of 6 bags?

CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for your sister churches in Southeastern Iowa: Washington, Eicher, Wayland, Sugar Creek, Pleasant View, and Zion Mennonite Churches.
