Sunday morning will be Zoom only: Sunday school will be at 9:30, and ALL ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND as the elders will lead discussion on when people might feel comfortable holding in-person services again (the discussion questions are attached for your discernment). People will meet in their Sunday school classes for discussion, and there will be an extra room or two for folks who would prefer to meet there so we can keep the groups small.
There will be a "fellowship break" at 10:30.
Worship will be at 10:45 on Zoom. The meeting will be "open" from 9:15a-12:15p. We will read Luke 9:28-36 and sing from our new hymnals:-).
Next week Sylvie Bonilla from the Food Bank of Lincoln will have a Good News in Outreach, and Dan Boshart (Chad's nephew) will have the message.
Here are the details from Laura on the 2021 Soup Swap, pandemic edition
- The first part is like previous years: make six quarts of soup, freeze it in 1-quart containers. If you don't want to make that much, it's fine, still participate with however much you make!
- Bring your soup to my house on Saturday, February, 20 at 3 p.m. We'll gather on the porch, social distancing with masks, etc. and swap our soups. The actual in-person gathering will probably be pretty quick, especially if it's cold! But you'll still leave with a bunch of different tasty soups!
- Please let me know if you're going to participate, AND also send me some details about what soup you're making. This is the time to "sell" your soup to us. Emoji I hope to compile everyone's soup info and send it to all participants beforehand so you can be thinking about the soups you'd like to choose. That way we won't have to stand around outside and talk about soup if the weather is super cold. I hope you can join us!
Due to the uncertainty of Covid-19 infections, the Nebraska MCC sale board has decided to have an online auction on March 27, 2021. Please check the newly updated website: nebraskamccsale.org to register donated craft items and quilts auction items for the on-line sale by March 1. An in-depth info sheet with some pre-sale items and suggestions is attached. Thanks to Tammy and Glen for volunteering to be our congregational contact for the MCC sale.
Our tech rotation is coming together... thanks to those who've volunteered, and we'd appreciate a few more folks if you're interested.
The 2021 theme verse is Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
We have a sharing fund to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission: Steve, Julie, and/or Ron.
The shop will be "open" for shop hours on Thursdays. We are meeting virtually on Zoom. Stop by to chat if you'd like.
Please continue to be extra intentional in connecting. Physical distance is not equal to social isolation. Let's love our neighbors around the area and world.
CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for your sister churches in Nebraska: Beemer, Bellwood, Bethesda, First Mennonite of Lincoln, Milford, Salem in Shickley, Wood River, and the Omaha Chin Christian Church, and pray also for the informal gathering of Mennonites in Omaha.
