We are called to remember our God and our people.
Sunday morning we will have another hybrid worship service on Zoom. The building will be open at 10:20. We will continue to observe our June safe worship guidelines.
We will read Exodus 32:1-14 in worship.
Next Sunday we will read parts of 1 Samuel 1-2 in worship.
NEXT SUNDAY (10/18) we will change our meeting times back to "normal." Sunday school will be at 9:30, there will be a "fellowship break" at 10:30, and worship will be at 10:45.
Leadership board and elders have worked together to update our safe worship guidelines, which we plan to begin observing 10/18. They are attached. Please look over them and talk to Chad (leadership board chair) or Anita (chair of the elders) with questions or concerns.
Next Sunday, we will have another all church small group in the yard at FMC at 4p. It will be a time to check-in with one another about life, worship, small groups etc. Please bring your masks and lawn chairs:-)
Please continue to be extra intentional in connecting in order to fight social isolation: physical distance is not equal to social isolation. Let's love our neighbors around the area and world.
Gifts Discernment is looking to fill two positions: primary Sunday school superintendent and worship committee member. If you would like more information or would be willing to fill one of these positions please contact Brett, Julie, or Becky.
We have a sharing fund to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission: Steve, Julie, and/or Ron.
So far in 2020, Everence has returned funds to our FMC Sharing fund:
$250 of $500 donated to the Foster Care Closet
$247 of $494 donated to Habitat for Humanity
$1050 of $2100 shared with individuals in need
Thank you FMC and Everence for supporting our Sharing Fund.
There will be no shop hours this week. I plan to be out of town. We will meet again from 3-6 on 10/22.
CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for our sister churches in Eastern Iowa: First Mennonite of Iowa City, East Union, West Union, Kalona, and Wellman Mennonite Churches.
