The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
Sunday we will have another hybrid worship service on Zoom.
The building will be open at 10:20
We will read John 1:1-5 in worship.
Next Sunday we will continue our series on hope in the midst of adversity, reading our theme verse and hearing from Christian and Germaine. We will also have time to share our hopeful scriptures w/ one another (more info below).
Please consider sharing a hopeful scripture in the services next week: we are planning for a shorter morning service as well as an outdoor service that evening in the FMC yard to finish this series. For the evening service, we will have a microphone for the reading, which will be followed by some quiet time. There will also be a good amount of time for physically-distanced fellowship. Please plan to bring your masks and lawn chairs:-)
Bidding for the online MCC sale closes Sunday. More info is in the attached flier, and here are the items: https://kliewersauctionservice.hibid.com/catalog/226573/nebraska-mcc-sal...
The elders have three sets of discussion questions to kick off another year of small groups. We suggest the first meeting the week of September 13. We encourage groups to discern together whether they want to meet together in person or virtually as well as other logistics. If you're not in a small group and would like to be, please contact Anita or Rick soon.
Please continue to be extra intentional in connecting in order to fight social isolation: physical distance is not equal to social isolation. Let's love our neighbors around the area and world.
We have a healthy sharing fund. We want to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on the nurture commission or leadership board. We will work to maintain the confidentiality of requests.
For those of you thinking about worshipping in our building, please read our attached full guidelines. Please contact Anita, Tim, Sabrina, or me with questions or concerns.
The shop will continue to be "open" for shop hours Thursday from 3-6 on Zoom. Stop by to chat if you'd like.
CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - We continue to pray for those who are most vulnerable in our communities in this strange time, as in all times. May God open our eyes to the possibilities for love and for protection of the least of these among us--and may we be willing to heed God's call.
