For reflection

Which groans do we listen to? Which do we run away from? Where do we find hope in the midst of these groans?

Announcements

Sunday we will have another hybrid worship service:

The Zoom meeting will be "open" from 9:15a-12:30p.

The building will be open at 10:20

 We will read Romans 8:18-28.

Next Sunday we will read Luke 18:1-8.

For those of you thinking about worshipping in our building, please read our full guidelines. Please contact Anita, Tim, Sabrina, or me with questions or concerns.

Sabrina and I are planning a few virtual gatherings for FMC to share about our congregational backgrounds, especially from our childhood. Please be thinking about your own congregational history in preparation for a virtual all church small group at 6:30 on August 5.

Worship committee is working on a series on hope/encouragement for the weeks between now and September 13.  If you appreciate a particular, hopeful scripture, please send me a message. We plan to have a lot of congregational involvement in the services on August 30 and September 6. If you would like to read and/or have read in worship and a short testimony... we would appreciate it.

The elders are working on a series of discussion questions to kick off another year of small groups. There will be discussion questions for three sessions, hopefully beginning in late August or early September. We encourage groups to discern together whether they want to meet together in person or virtually as well as other logistics. If you're not in a small group and would like to be, please contact Anita or Rick soon.

Please continue to be extra intentional in connecting in order to fight social isolation: physical distance is not equal to social isolation. Let's love our neighbors around the area and world.

We have a healthy sharing fund. We want to assist our members as well as those more loosely connected w/ us who are struggling with financial hardship. Please speak with someone on nurture commission or leadership board. We will work to maintain the confidentiality of requests.

The shop will continue to be "open" for shop hours Thursday from 3-6. We are meeting virtually on Zoom.  Stop by to chat if you'd like.

CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST -    We pray for students, teachers and staff who are preparing to begin school in the midst of a pandemic. May God bless their learning and may they both receive and reflect the love of God in their school settings. We pray for our church-related schools, Freeman Academy and Iowa Mennonite.
