The gospel is too big to fit inside our four walls: we stand in awe as the Holy Spirit sends us out to share God’s love with the world.
SMALL GROUP - We are planning the 2018 Small Group Kick Off... please contact Sheri Nitzsche or Pastor Dave if you're interested in joining a group. We will have an All Church Small Group on September 12 at which we distribute books. We will be reading another from the Upside Down Living series, this one titled Sabbath. It is about rest in the midst of our busy lives.
ARTWORK - Worship committee requests pictures and artwork inspired by our theme verse. We invite you to help us make a collage in the fellowship hall, which will be part of the September 16 worship service.
MAGAZINES - We will be culling all but the last three issues of the many magazines on the cart in the library... please stop by and take older issues if you'd like them.
BIKING - If you're interested in supporting Mennonite Central Committee and biking (and you're willing to drive a bit before biking), please talk to me about participating in the MCC Flatlander Bicycle Ride. It's Saturday, September 15 starting at the MCC center in Newton, KS.
COME & SEE – Next week, please invite your neighbors, coworkers, friends, and classmates to join us for our Friendship Sunday and stay for potluck (reg attenders, please bring a main dish and either a side dish or dessert to share). We will have informal Sunday school and snack (donuts provided) at 9:45, then worship at 10:45 at which we read part of John 15 (where Jesus calls us "friends") and talk about "Friendship."
BUDGET AND MORTGAGE UPDATE: Leadership board, with the help of the trustee's, recently approved a complete replacement of an air conditioning unit for the fellowship hall which resulted in an unexpected budget expense of $7723. This is in addition to our budget shortage YTD of -$6998.
We continue to make great progress on paying off our mortgage. Our current principle balance of our mortgage is down to $10,431 with additional pledges expected this year and next to payoff the balance in full.
CONFERENCE PRAYER REQUEST - Pray for Cedar Falls Mennonite Church as they transition from a building they own to renting space from First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls. Their first Sunday in the new worship space will be August 26.
