Announcements

HAITI RELIEF DONATIONS HERE - Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) increased their material aid request for Haiti.  They are asking for 20,000 relief kits, 25,000 heavy comforters (twin size preferred), and 10,000 flat sheets (double, queen, or king in light colors) by February 28.  All items should be new. Bring donations to the church and consider sharing this request with friends and co-workers.  For complete information, go to www.fmclincoln.org/haitiearthquakeresponse.    For up-to-date information on MCC's work in Haiti please visit the following link: mcc.org/haitiearthquake/news/onsite

"SOUPER BOWL" - Next Sunday is your opportunity to participate in our local "Souper Bowl"!  Before you settle down into your favorite chair to cheer for the Saints or the Colts in the Super Bowl, cheer for your local food pantry by placing money in our Soup Bowls.  The high school youth group will be collecting money for the Northeast Food Pantry at the close of the worship service next Sunday.

JEANETTE HARDER - Jeanette will be our special speaker next Sunday.  Her sermon will be In Your Weakness.  The Scripture lessons will be: John 9 and 2 Corinthians 4:7, 16-18.

BIRTHDAY OFFERING TODAY - We will celebrate all the January birthdays and anniversaries today.  If you are celebrating this month you are invited to contribute to the offering which is used to support the education of three students in India.

NEED SERVERS - Please consider if you or your small group can sign up to serve meals at the People's City Mission the first Sunday evening of the month.  Registration is on the church bulletin board.  Anyone from middle school on up can serve.

CONCERT BENEFITS CITY IMPACT - Come enjoy a free concert with music provided by the Lincoln Boys Choir and PANgea & PANgea Prep (select percussion ensembles of LPS students).  A free-will offering will be taken and will benefit City Impact!  The concert is today at 5:00 pm at Southwood Lutheran Church, 9300 South 40th Street.  Nathan Riedel will be a part of this Concert with a Cause.

BARB HAS REGISTRATIONS - Women, come for a wonderful retreat with friends. The Annual Mennonite Women's Retreat is Saturday and Sunday, March 6 & 7.  The retreat is at the Aurora Leadership Center and the theme is "Prayer: A Lifestyle and a Legacy".  Cindy Hostetler is the speaker and will help us learn to Pray More and Say Less!  Also, Esmerelda has been invited, and she is always good for a joke or two.  Barb Schlegel has the registration forms which are due on February 1.

BOYS CLOTHES - The Foster CARE Closet is in urgent need of boys' size 6, 7, 8 and 10 pants.  They only have 4 pair in size 6, 3 pair in size 7 and 4 pair in both 8 and 10.   If you or someone you know has a child that has outgrown this size, would you please consider donating the good, quality pairs to the Foster CARE Closet?  For more information, call Leigh at (402)617-0667.

LOVE IN ACTION - If you have ever had a baby, illness, surgery, or other need, and had a meal provided for you and your family, you know how wonderful it feels. That is one way FMC cares for each other. Thank you to those who have already volunteered to help with this kindness, but we need more help. Would you be willing?  A sign-up sheet is in the fellowship hall.

CIRCLE OF GRACE - During Sunday School, our children and young people will be participating in the Circle of Grace program on February 14, 21, and 28 (and March 14 for Junior Youth and Youth). Circle of Grace is a faith-based program to educate and empower children and young people to actively participate in a safe environment for themselves and others. If you have questions, contact Jeanette Harder or Wanda Stauffer.

MCC CENTRAL STATES - Everyone is welcome to join us at Rainbow Mennonite Church in Kansas City, Kansas, for our annual meeting and worship service on Saturday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m.  The program will celebrate what we call the "New Wine", MCC's new statement of identity, approaches, priorities, values and convictions.

ANNUAL MEETING - At the January 13 annual meeting our treasurer, Tim Balzer, reported that 2009 offerings slightly exceeded our goal and that our building loan principal was reduced by $30,000.  The budget adopted for 2010 includes a $3,000 increase in giving to mission and service agencies and a total increase of 6%.  Complete minutes of the meeting are posted on the bulletin board near the kitchen.
