|
|
We welcome you, Kevin and Kathy,
as our brother and sister in Christ, a member of the Lord's body and of this
congregation.
We make this covenant with you as
we renew our own covenant with God:
to bear each others' burdens,
to assist in times of need,
to share our gifts and possessions,
to forgive as Christ has forgiven
us,
to support each other in joy and
sorrow,
and in all things to work for the
common good,
thus making known Christ's presence
among us
to the Glory of God.
As we unite with each other now, may we all be joined with
Christ our Lord.

prayer for the people of Haiti and by donating to MCC's Haiti Earthquake
appeal. Donations may be made through the offering at any time. Designate your gift "Haiti." Or you can give online at donate.mcc.org/project/haiti-earthquake,

WELCOME HAAKES! - Kevin and Kathy Haake will be baptized
this morning. They have been members
of Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
We welcome them to First Mennonite Church along with their children,
Austen, Kadin, and Elsa.
NEXT SUNDAY - Our special guest speaker will be Hesston
College men's basketball coach, Dustin Galyon. Coach Galyon and members of the team will share with the Youth
and Jr. Youth Sunday School classes.
The Hesston Larks will be playing at Union College on Saturday,
January 23 at 6:30 p.m. (women) and 8:30 p.m. (men). They will also play at SECC Beatrice on
Sunday. Check the website for more
details.
EXTRA FOOD - Remember our monthly potluck will be held
next Sunday. We will be joined by the
entire Hesston College men's basketball team so bring extra food to power
them through their game at SECC.
HABITAT BRAZIL - Jim Janzen and Carol Knieriem leave this
week for Feria Nova, Brazil, where they will help build a Habitat for
Humanity House. Thanks to everyone
who donated cash, tools, and toys.
Keep Jim and Carol in your prayers.
The First Mennonite Mission Travel Fund will pay $3,000 to help with
their expenses. Contributions to
replenish the fund are welcome and may be made at any time. Designate gifts "Mission Travel."

JUNIOR YOUTH ROLLER SKATING - The Junior Youth Roller
Skating Party (grades 6-8) is now scheduled for Wednesday, January 27 at 6:30
p.m. at Skate Zone. Mark your
calendars.

IT'S SOUPER BOWL TIME! - The high school youth group will
be collecting money donations for the local food pantry on Super Bowl Sunday,
February 7. This is a national event that happens all over the country, and
all of our donations go to our local Food Pantry. So be thinking ahead,
and prepare to be a Souper Giver on Super Bowl Sunday!
BRINGING MEALS - Meals for members in need, is one way we
care for each other here at FMC. Helping Hands coordinates meals
for people with health issues, at the arrival of new babies, during times of
sorrow, or any time we hear of a need. We would like to be able to call
on YOU for help with this service. If you don't cook, don't worry, there
are other options. People love
getting pizza, or takeout, or gift
certificates. You can also pair up with someone to share
the responsibility of a meal, or bring your food items ahead of time, ready
for the freezer, and we will make sure they get delivered. Let Barb
Schlegel or Wanda Stauffer know if you can help. Thank you for considering how you can help.
