As the New Year begins we examine our lives.

O Lord, you know us better than we know ourselves.  Help us to look at ourselves through your eyes.

Leader

Help us reflect on the year that has passed.

People

Remind us of our faithfulness and failures.

Leader

Give us eyes to see clearly where we now stand.

People

Show us all that we are and all that we have.  Reveal to us the possibilities that are before us.

Leader

By the power of your Spirit, guide us.

People

Show us the path that you have for us.  Give us worthy goals to draw us onward.

DAVID AND SHARON ORR - The Orrs will return from vacation this evening.

COMMUNION SERVICE - Next Sunday we will celebrate communion.  Use this week as an occasion to examine your commitment to the Lord and your relationships with your sisters and brothers.  Take care of any concerns so you may come to the Lord's Table with a free and joyful heart.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - Our annual congregational meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 13, at 7:00 p.m.  We will receive reports from all commissions and adopt a budget for 2010.  Copies of the current financial report and proposed budget have been distributed in the church mailboxes.

WANT TO SEE YOUR FRIENDS IN SWEATPANTS?? - An overnight retreat is coming soon, full of fun, laughter, relaxation and food.  You won't want to miss it.  The retreat will be at the Aurora Leadership Center on February 12 and 13 (Friday and Saturday).  Details coming so save the dates now!

BUY TOOLS FOR BRAZIL - See the display in the fellowship hall.  Take a tab, buy a tool, and Jim and Carol will take it to Brazil to be donated.  Let's load up their suitcases.

MISSION TRAVEL CONTRIBUTIONS - Jim Janzen and Carol Knieriem are joining with a team to build a Habitat house in Feira Nova, Brazil, January 29 - February 7.  Carol will be returning to the States soon after the project ends.  Jim will spend another week making connections with the Mennonites who are doing work in the Recife area and visiting friends and neighbors from 1977-1980 when he served in Brazil with Mennonite Central Committee.

Nurture Commission has agreed to help Jim and Carol with the $6,500 cost of their trip through the First Mennonite Church Mission Travel Fund.  To make this possible, contributions designated "Mission Travel Fund" are requested.  Gifts may be received through the morning offering.

WORK TEAM - Participate in the Ecuador Partnership!  A fellowship and work team from Central Plains Mennonite Conference will go to Ecuador from February 19 to March 1 to build a church for an indigenous group in Arajuno in the Amazon jungle.  Interested persons should contact Doyle Roth right away

JANUARY POTLUCK ON 24TH - The Hesston Men's Basketball Team will be visiting us on Sunday, January 24.  We will have our monthly potluck meal on that day (instead of the third Sunday) so that we can meet (and feed) these players.
