CHRISTMAS EVE - Our family Christmas Eve service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 24.  Come for a short, informal celebration of Jesus' birth.

SAVE DATES FOR ALL-CHURCH RETREAT - An overnight retreat is coming soon, full of fun, laughter, relaxation, and food.  You won't want to miss it.  The retreat will be at the Aurora Leadership Center on February 12 and 13 (Friday and Saturday).  Details coming so save the dates now!

BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY OFFERING - Our offering meets the $70 monthly cost of sponsoring education and vocational training for Krishnendu, Payel, and Suraj in Calcutta, India.  Your gifts, sent through Mennonite Central Committee's Global Family Program, pay for scholarships, books, and school supplies.

GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS - The First Mennonite Youth Group is proud to offer fairly traded products from Equal Exchange to support youth activities and the youth group's National Conference trip.  You can purchase these products in the Fellowship Hall.  You can give twice by buying fairly traded gifts!

NEED A GIFT IDEA? - We still have copies of the FMC Cookbook and they make a wonderful Christmas gift.  You may purchase them in the fellowship hall, with proceeds going toward the building fund.

MISSION TRAVEL CONTRIBUTIONS - Jim Janzen and Carol Knieriem are joining with a team to build a Habitat house in Feira Nova, Brazil, January 29 - February 7.  Carol will be returning to the States soon after the project ends.  Jim will spend another week making connections with the Mennonites who are doing work in the Recife area and visiting friends and neighbors from 1977-1980 when he served in Brazil with Mennonite Central Committee.

Nurture Commission has agreed to help Jim and Carol with the $6,500 cost of their trip through the First Mennonite Church Mission Travel Fund.  To make this possible, contributions designated "Mission Travel Fund" are requested.  Gifts may be received through the morning offering.

NO DECEMBER POTLUCK - We will not have a potluck meal this month but will resume our regular third-Sunday potlucks in January.

SNACK SCHEDULE - The schedule through February is posted on the bulletin board near the kitchen.  All Sunday schedules (greeters, drivers, nursery, etc.) may also be viewed online in the Member Information area of the website.  Go to www.fmclincoln.org/Sunday_Personnel.htm.

FOCUS IN 2010 - Votes are in and "ECONOMIC JUSTICE" won!  The congregation has voted to focus on Economic Justice in 2010.  Our youth are selling "Fair Trade" products.  We support "The Mission," "Habitat for Humanity" and other organizations that minister to the poor.  We're looking for a few people who are interested in taking our congregation to the next level and helping us plan more activities and educational opportunities to address this topic.  If you are one of these people please contact Carol Knieriem or David Orr.

COME LET US REASON TOGETHER - This is the theme of the Central Plains Mennonite Conference Congregational Leaders Seminar to be held in Des Moines, Iowa, January 8-9.  The focus of the seminar will be on "common understandings for discerning issues of faith and life."  A flyer is posted on the church bulletin board.  Full details may be found at www.centralplains.mennonite.net/Events/Leaders_Seminar.  We will send in our congregational registration on December 24.  Let David Orr know if you are interested in attending.
