Theme

When God calls us, we are to respond with faith AND obedience. For Luke, it is not sufficient to understand that Jesus is God’s Messiah and to “just believe in him.”  One’s life must reflect that confession.

Announcements

SPEAKER – Thank you to Seth Miller for bringing us the message today!  Seth is the Pastor of Preaching & Congregational/Community Life at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, NE.  He has been there since July 2015.  Seth, originally from Sarasota, Florida, is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University and received a Master of Divinity degree from Eastern Mennonite Seminary.

 

WEDNESDAY - We will have an all-church small group on Wednesday.  It is being arranged by the Worship committee, and we are organizing a baked potato bar. Jennifer Miller will have a sign-up sheet on Sunday for baked potato toppings and/or desserts.

 

NEIGHBOR – Outreach commission is ordering "We're glad you're our neighbor" yard signs (designed by a Mennonite in Virginia). Please talk to/email Pastor Dave if you'd like to purchase one ($10 payable to FMC). They should be available by February 19th.

 

CHILI COOK-OFF – Bring your best chili and join us for the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off on February 26 right after church.  There will be prizes for Judges Choice in several categories, and we will also award People’s Choice.  Please sign up to bring your favorite.  There will be a free-will offering to the Youth Group for their 2017 conference trip to Florida this summer. 

 

TUESDAY - The first of a series of three “Tuesdays with Dave” Webinars is coming soon!  This series will focus on how the life and message of our churches can be infused with grace, joy and peace in a world seeking hope.  Join us on Tuesday, February 28, at 7 pm for the first teaching video “Witness in Exile: Longing for a Better Place.”

 

RETREAT – A brochure and registration forms for Nebraska Mennonite Women's Retreat March 4-5 are on/near the bulletin board. Talk to Barb Schlegel for more info. 

 

AUCTION - The Youth Group will hold an auction after potluck March 12 as a fundraiser for convention.  Would you consider donating items such as household items, crafts, baked goods, certificates (snow shoveling, babysitting, other services) and any nice stuff that you don't need anymore. And get ready to bid!!!

 

INVITE – We will be hosting conscientious objector appreciation during and after worship on April 23.  If you have friends and/or family you would like us to formally thank and invite, please talk to Pastor Dave.
